Coláiste Dún an Rí has a boys and girls basketball team. They compete in the north east region playing teams from Louth, Metah, Cavan and Monaghan. Their are four age groups Minor, Junior, U16 and U19. Coláiste Dún an Rí  currently competes in all of these categorys. In 2018, the boys minor basketball team won their division, whilst the girls were runner up in their regional final.

In 2019, The boys Basketball Teams were promoted to Division C. During their maiden campaign in division C the boys junior Basketball team reached an All Ireland playoff and were narrowly defeated in that game. Meanwhile the girls minor team reached a provincial final which they were also narrowly defeated in.
