On Thursday the 22nd of September Coláiste Dún an Rí entered their first competitive event with the Under 14 boys Gaelic Football team competing in a blitz in Breffni Park in Cavan Town. The team did us proud as they played Virginia College, Breffni and St Brichin’s. Despite their brilliant performances, they lost out on a place in the final. However, it was a great start to the year and they are now ready to take on the teams in the Danske Bank Ennis Cup.
We would like to thank Kingscourt Stars for the use of their facilities and equipment to help us prepare for the year ahead. We would also like to thank Cavan G.A.A for organising the blitz and inviting us to take part. The facilities were excellent and it was a very enjoyable day for all.

Our first year girls team also enjoyed their first outing with a blitz competition in Breffni Park. Seven teams competed on the day- St. Mogue’s, Virginia College, St. Clare’s, St. Aiden’s, Breffni College and Coláiste Dún an Rí. In the first section we defeated Breffni and St. Aiden’s and lost out to St.Clare’s 1. In section two, we drew with St. Mogue’s and Virginia College which brought us into the semi-final. In the semi-final, we beat St. Clare’s 2 and set up a mouth-watering final against St. Clare’s 1. In the final we were narrowly defeated by a very good St. Clare’s team. This was a great day and occasion for the girls from Coláiste Dún an Rí.
