Development Education

Development Education is an educational process aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of the rapidly changing, interdependent and unequal world in which we live. By challenging stereotypes and encouraging independent thinking, development education helps students critically explore the root causes of global justice issues and how they interlink with our everyday lives.

In Coláiste Dún and Rí development education is promoted by the student and teacher development education committees. Global Justice issues are woven through all our curricular subjects through the resources and materials chosen for each lesson but also the activities and extra-curricular activities promoted in the school community. In recognition of our work in promoting development education Coláiste Dún an Rí was awarded the Diplomatic Passport 2020-2022.
